PUBLIC WORKSHOP Re: MS4 PROGRAM

The Town and Village of Lake George MS4 staff are holding a joint-public workshop to discuss the two municipalities’’ efforts in the implementation of its Stormwater Management Program and other Stormwater related concerns. Meeting date, time and location are below, as are the topics to be discussed.

Monday December 9, 2019 5:30-6:30pm

Lake George Town Hall, 20 Old Post Road

Stormwater Management Program

The Town and Village have developed and have been imlpementing their Stormwater Management Program(s) based on the requirements established under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Phase II (NPDES Phase II) regulations for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4). EPA’s NPDES Phase II Stormwater Management program provides a framework for improving the quality of stormwater discharges to waterways through the identification of six minimum control measures (MCM’s). The Town and Village’s joint Program identifies stormwater management activities that address the NPDES Phase II program’s six MCM’s, which are: public education and outreach; public participation and involvement; illicit discharge detection and elimination; construction site runoff control; post-construction site runoff control; pollution prevention and good housekeeping measures.

Other Stormwater Related Concerns

Other concerns include the discussion and assessment of problem stormwater areas / subwatersheds in the Town and Village of Lake George. Some of these areas include:

  • East Brook / Snug Harbour – Beach Road, Beatty Road and Cedar Lane
  • Lakeview Subwatershed – Tahoe Resort / Lake View Circle / Middle Road / Carefree Lane
  • West Brook Subwatershed – West Brook / Prospect Mountain Brook

Residents in these areas are invited to attend this public workshop to discuss major problems, occurrences, and potential community-driven solutions to the stormwater issues related to these areas and their associated bodies of water.

Please contact Dan Barusch, Director of Planning and Zoning, Town of Lake George at 518-668-5131 (x5) or at dbarusch@lakegeorgetown.org for questions.
