The Highway Department is responsible for the 33 miles (center lane) of Town Roads.  The Department has an agreement with the County to provide some maintenance to 1 mile of County Highways for which it is reimbursed. The Department also provides sanding and snow removal for the Lake George Central School, for which it is reimbursed by the School.

There are 13 staff members in this department. 
The Highway Department conducts Clean up campaigns in both the Spring and Fall. During the designated times the Department picks up lawn waste  (leaves, grass and small brush piles) which are placed by residents along the road. The time frame for the clean ups are placed on this website and published in The Post Star and on the Town Facebook page.

Although the Department has regular hours, it responds to weather and other emergencies.
