The duties of the Animal Control Officer are to enforce the laws and ordinances of the Town of Lake George relating to dogs running at large, the licensing of dogs, impounding of unlicensed dogs and investigation of complaints relative thereto.
The Animal Control Officer is also responsible for handling dog bites for Warren County Public Health. A report is received from the Department of Public Health and the Animal Control Officer contacts the animal owner to ensure that rabies vaccinations are up-to-date and follows up in 10 days.
New York State Law requires all dogs to be licensed in the Town of Lake George as well as to be up-to-date with their rabies vaccinations.
It is very important that dogs be licensed. There is a nominal fee. If your dog happens to get loose and is found by the Animal Control Officer, it is possible to look up the dog’s license at the Town Hall and locate the owner prior to impounding the dog.
All dogs found running at large in the Town of Lake George are taken to Countryside Veterinary Medical Group, 454 Queensbury Avenue, Queensbury, NY 12804, Phone: 518-793-7083.
